A quick browse around the gigabyte site led me to this:
http://ftp.gigabyte.com.tw/support/user_pdf/other370.pdf
which is a
table of multiplyers and compatible CPU's, by the look of it your board
will support an 11.5 multiplyer and a 100mhz bus, set these to 10x100
and put the celeron on the board, it may not like having it's
multiplyer
changed as newer chips are multiplyer locked to prevent over clocking.
You can't damage the cpu doing this, so it's worth a try.

Subject: [ukha_d] OT CPU Underclocking
Late night stupid question time, I have somehow managed to kill a
Celeron 466 processor this evening and looking for a replacement have
settled on a 1GHz Celeron (non Tualatin) for monetary reasons. The
Gigabyte board (Old BX2000+) only explicitly supports up to 850MHz
can I just run the CPU at a lower multiplier i.e. 8.5 or will this
board be stable enough at 1GHz??
Any thoughts before I go shopping?
Paul
