Boot disc, either CD or floppy.

before rebooting and carrying out the rest>

Get a DOS prompt, type "format C:" IIRC, this should, by default, format
the drive to FAT32 if it's Win98 you install.

Wait till it finishes.

Install any OS you like or the machine can handle!
