Could it be that BT Surftime is heading the same way as AOL in being a
"nanny ISP"?

I have just had to use BT for Internet access and set my router up with
the phone number that the BT Surftime installer configures your machine
with. I can send and receive email fine on that account but if I try to
go to *ANY* web pages I get diverted to :

http://www.btopenworld.com/numberchange/

Which hasn't changed (according to them) since 9th October 2001!

If I install their fecking software on my lappy and dial out on a modem
on the same number then all is well and I can get to web sites normally.

Gits! I don't want my browser BT branded and their ruddy installer
changes loads of settings that I just don't want changed...

Phil
