Absolutely nowhere near anything that would be useful if you are building at
the moment!

btw, where are you building?

Indeed if you have a tcp/ip lightswitch that sends a dim command to a tcp/ip
lighting relay board, it doesn't matter if the controller is online or not.

First thing to consider, what do you want to do now, and what do you want to
plan for later.

Have you got any prices from linet for their products?

I hear what you are saying about the roll your own, the problem with a
colaborative effort is that everyone has different priorities and feature
lists.
