I know, but on a more serious point, the wireless network set up at
the meet was very slow with a few units connecting at a time. It is
obvious I suppose, but with a wired network and a switch, then
network speed is hardly affected at all by adding more devices,
whereas wireless certainly is.

There is one area though where wireless could be very useful and that
is where I have insufficient CAT5. By using a local AP in the room in
question I can free up CAT5 sockets for stuff (like IR distribution,
PIR, low voltage devices etc) that can not be wireless. If prices
eventually tumble then I could see me ending up with a WAP in each
room and all laptops, epods, fujis etc using that to connect, leaving
structured wiring free for phone, alarm, AV and low voltage stuff.
