The LOL was more towards the company punting the CDs, just came across
wrong..

What so funny about it is the vision of some scuzzbo in the Recording
industry trying to save some cash lost to "piracy" only to get hit with lots
of expensive repair bills..

That and Phillips (guardian of the "compact disc" logo and standard)
becoming more visibly agitated at deliberately broken dics being sold as
CDs..

as an aside, the key combo reboot is only listed as a "may work" on the
apple technote..

But as I have since read, there isn't any schaddenfreud to be had by the PC
brigade, as these notCDs seem pretty good at locking up PC systems too. It's
only the fact that PC's CD Drives usually have the manual eject hole
accessible that save  a trip back to the store for them too..

Ian.

It...means you have to restart with a couple of keys pressed
down if there's no manual eject hole.  It ain't that terrible. Or was
that the only bit of schadenfreude ever afforded a windows user
and thus hilarious?

I fail to see what's so LOL about the whole thing, it means CDs
really aren't CDs, and those of us who legally buy music but
listen from HD for a number of reasons HA-related, cannot, and
that's bad.   They really are eejits in the record companies - I
won't even bother buying the cd's because I know I can't rip them,
so my only choice is Audiogalaxy.  Fortunately there's no chance
of me buying any of the current protected CD-esque discs since
the music on 'em is shite.
