Good advice (as usual!) Mark; however where I live the houses aren't
neatly regimented - but we have overhead lines so I should be able to
identify the right ones...

(For those in the dark, the implication is that in a planned
development, houses will be arranged on the three phases in turn, so
the third house along will be on the same phase as you - and X-10
doesn't jump phases without a coupler)

Using a different piece of software I was able to search for other
computer interfaces and found none. However, the help notes suggest
that Windows machines don't necessarily respond to this request...

...thinks - is what I've just done a 'Hail Request' command?

It confuse me too till I realised out that the two commands are:
1) During the delay period (currently 30s) before arming
2) Start of armed period
(I have B1 set for both parameters as I was too impatient to wait for
the delay to get an indication of arming!)

My mistake; the system was UNARMED from 08:30 until 12:03, so the
spurious data arrived in unarmed state.
