Is there a way of checking ADSL connection by dialing into a BT test mode?

I have had ADSL for 2 weeks, all fine and then last week it went dead.
Phone dial tone is still there.

ADSL modem cannot see anything. The ISP is getting BT to 'reset the line'
but they are taking ages.

Thanks,

Martin
