Getting back to quiet fans....
Looks like ys-tech will be bringning a new kind of fan technology to the
computers. To eliminate noise they are changing the way the fan is
driver. The part of the fan that makes the most noise is the tips, as
the escaping air not being pushed down over them makes quite a bit of
noise. Check http://www.ystech.com.tw/Tmd/tmd-0.htm [you may get a
language warning, but the site is in english] For the new TMD (Tip
Magnetic Driving) Fan, looks like it could increase the airflow and
reduce the noise of every fan in your system :)
