Obviously a man with no taste ;)

Loads of taste here, just not Germanic or, indeed, affiliated to any one manufacturer or country of origin ;-)

How can you say this is ugly?

I didn’t say ugly, I said boring. They are nice enough cars, well built, perform well, handle reasonably well AFAIK but to my mind BMW lost its way after it got the formula right for a mid-sized compact executive saloon in the eighties, stuck with the winning formula and got boring. Which, to a certain extent I admire them for as it really makes sound business sense from their point of view.

Nice car Tim, just not my cup of tea.

Who cares? The only time you can fully use the performance is on a track

day, which to me is a waste of time, I don't like going round in circles

too much :-D

Bear in mind, this is a car intended for the road *not* the track!

Both really

Can be used on both you mean ;-)

How many buyers would actually take their beloved beemer out to the track in percentage terms…I’ll bet a hell of a lot less than the real performance cars ;-)

I think cars are meant to grabbed and stuffed up a back road as fast as

they dare allow you to go, or before you brown trouser it so, in the

main, performance over a certain level is useless on a day-to-day basis,

I say this as you are limited by the current state the roads are in and

the fact that on any road you can give some plod has kindly put those

little flashing poles on that get you points, sadly no prizes though.

I regularly drive on a back road between Box Hill and Leatherhead (over Headley Common for any locals). I could do with a little more performance than the 330 offers

Yep, I have been known to drive up the odd country road as Phil can testify, although I was taking it easy that night as, at that point, I didn’t know he was as barmy as I am!

 Headl

Of course this a personal point of view and I just don't see the point

in having a super duper fast car, a good looking one yes, but silly

performances are not for the road anymore, if you want to keep your

licence.

Hmm, seems like we have the ideal candidate here for a “hairdressers car” like the MX5

Not a chance, just a realistic approach in a way. TBH, I wouldn’t spend the money on a performance car now, I don’t do the mileage to justify it nor do the roads allow for the use of that power. The last time I tried it I got 6 points and a *very* hefty fine for the privilege after I saw plod from about quarter of a mile away and instantly hit the anchors. 97.6mph they got me for which, I suppose, was better than 135mph on a deserted dual carriageway!

But, as they say, whatever floats your boat...

The world would be a dull place if we all shared the same opinions.

For sure.

K.
