Hi Keith
These cabling questions i can see will keep popping up
from
time to time might be an idea to put an article on your site like you did
on the
video signal formats. Just a thought.

Question
Hi Ian,
No problem with that as Lutron Grafik Eye
has an RS485 connection to the Dimmer.
The only restrictions ***
AS
I UNDERSTAND IT *** are that upto the wallbox the cables should be run
separately and that the sheathing of the Low Voltage cable should be
capable of withstanding mains contact, in otherwords, sleeved. THe
design
of the Lutron Grafik Eye keeps the LV stuff clear of the mains
wiring.

Question
Keith,
I have a question, if you don't mind..
when
talking about the seperation of LV and Mains, especially having no LV
and
Mains in the same pattress box, what if the reason for the LV cabling is
to
provide a data/control interface for the Mains side? an example would be
a
wired RS-232 controlled dimmer pack...
I think what I'm getting
at,
is when does the regs stop thinking of something as being part of the
infrastructure, and when does it become an appliance?
do the regs
effectively stop you from building LV controlled units which fit inside
a
pattress box as a "wall switch" ?
Ian.
