then near the bottom of the page..
There's no display device in the room, all feedback is via voice prompts
>from
the word "TV" is spoken immediately followed by the TV source
being
selected, another press and "Radio" is announced and then the
radio source
is selected and so on... The previously active source is stopped before the
TTS announcement, so there's no speaking over the top of the music or
whatever...
The whole lot cycles round: TV > Radio > MP3 > Off The backend is
a PC with
a WinTV Primio FM card (for TV & Radio sources) and the MP3 source is
through Winamp reading from my MP3 jukebox PC elsewhere onthe LAN (which,
incidentally, I upgraded to a total of 260GB of disk today!)
The soundcard from the PC connects out to a spare amplifier, which then
feeds a pair of speakers in the bathroom ceiling. The Amp is not IR
controllable, so no source selection or control takes place there, - it's
ALL done in the PC under software control...
It's enough for our needs which is to be able to listen to some relaxing
music whilst in the bath, or for me to listen to breakfast news on BBC1
when
I'm brushing my teeth in the morning! - I can also hook it in to a
whole-house source by selecting the "Radio" source, and the
selecting the
preset station for my Veronica FM transmitter, so for parties adn so on, I
can have the same music in the bathroom via FM radio as well...
HTH.
