I go along with this to a point, but I would be worried to think
people might start to rely on the module NOT being accidentally
triggered.

The suggestion to build a dedicated (lack of) motion sensor in to an
iron is a far more appropriate means of achieving the same end.

The vacuum cleaner being silenced by the doorbell or phone however is
a very valid use of X-10. Presumably there'd be no need to have the
system switch the module back on, since the action of flipping the
hoover's power switch off and on again would reset it?

Just as long as you make it the type with a brass earth pin...
