Ian,

I know you sent a message, I saw it this morning, it appears however
that the Yahoo web interface and the actual mails it sends out are
not always the same... (this means that I appologise to anyone who
has not had a reply from me about any topic I've 'contributed' to - I
may not have seen your message)

I would like to say this with regard to, what I remember of, your
message I also appologise if I'm reitterating what people may have
said in private emails. This does however in some small way affect
the entire group.

Don't leave the group, your input is valued, your views required. I
appreciate that both you and Gerard do not see eye to eye on much -
if anything but:

1. 1 out of 400 people is not a bad ratio of "I get on with : I do
not get on with"

2. BOTH of you have provided valued input on a variety of topics

3. Messages like this one and the ones that have caused offence to
you, Gerard and others may not have been taken the way they were
intended. You can't express intonation in messages. What may have
been a light hearted comment may be taken differently - and smileys
are pretty useless.

4. Have you met each other? I'm not syggesting clandestine (sp)
boxing matches but what I do know from my experience is that meeting
someone face to face can solve many issues. The London meet would be
a good place to try this. This is (and I'm sorry to spout management
crap) what we do regularly at our offices. IT department employees
>from thrash out any issues, it puts a name to a face, it gives a different
perspective on how you see them. I've had many an 'asshole' turn into
a 'nice bloke' after meeting up. Once I get to speak to someone face
to face, and this could be me being mad but, but I tend to read
anything they write in their 'voice' with a picture of them in my
head... it works for me :O

5. If you leave the group we have all lost.

6. The Yahoo web interface sucks. I really wanted to reply to your
message but it's not there.

7. You can always ignore each other, but that's not a solution,
that's just pretending the issue(s) doesn't exist.

8. There seems to be a lot of over reaction to messages/comment on
the list. This may be because the groups is growing, we are getting
more and more people joining and the chances of two characters
clashing is increasing. I'm sorry but I AM going to mention the //
and \\ affair - but only in passing - it was just silly. In fact I
did unsubscribe for a while (albeit short) because of it.

9. This message is getting too long so I'll end here, I hopt both you
and Gerard will be at the London meet.. I haven't been to one before
and would like to finally get your voices and pictures in my head :D

Andy
