When are people going to wake up to the fact that the TV is NOT a 
good interface for any kind of information if someone else in the 
family is using said TV for its intended purpose?

I don't think my SWMBO or kiddiwink are especially intolerant, but 
they get annoyed if I try to set the VCR timer (on-screen display 
which removes their picture) or use the EPG ('Dad, can you take that 
blue box off my cartoon?') - so I can really envisage instant 
messaging being accepted during the big movie or the Tweenies...
