There is an excuse not to, it will cost them money to do it. be it 
development time for the PCB, changes in the construction & fabrication
plant 
oe just the costs of getting it re-CE certified (if they have to)

I guess a lot will depend on how succesfull these AWM10's are. If they sell
well X10=Europe may then decide they need to add features to their unit in
order to take back some of their market share (which they have a monopoly
on 
I would have thought).

If they don't sell (because of the price) then X10-Europe will turn round
& 
say "Look no-one wants status reporting, no-one buys the modules when
they 
have it)
