Sorry Stuart, I have to disagree with you here, IPX/SPX is a protocol
for Netware, you only need TCP/IP or maybe NETBUI to get them to talk.
I have W95/W98/W98SE/NT4/W2K all on the same network and all talk, well
most of the time.....oh and my Psion 5MX....
Although I have to admit since "upgrading" the ProntoEdit
software the
PC will not talk to my Pronto anymore!!!

Ummm, I haven't read the other posts, but have you installed the
IPX/SPX protocol? I have to do this if there's a Win9x machine on
the network so they can see each other in the Network
Neighbourhood.
