Automated lighting

Hi,

My rebuild has started and I am trying to workout what to do with my
lighting circuts. I would like to control the lights in the Hall,
living and dining rooms using a dimmer e.g. (http://www.futronix-
info.com/p400.htm), and also be able to manage them from my PC
network for security programming, etc

Anyone any experience of doing this? A lot of the wiring products are
X10 based, but I have the luxury of doing this all from scratch so
would be interested in alternative schemes (given that there will be
miles of Cat5 in the house eventually). SWMBO also would like the
lights to work if the PC crashes etc

I have alraedy planned the cable runs for my LAN, TV, onewire
radiator actuators and curtain controls but have got a bit stumped
with the lights

Any help appreciated Thanks - J
