OK, I don't know what these are called or where you can get them, but
I think I know just what you need. I will try to explain....

1. You have the screen attached to the underside of the shelf or unit
with a normal hinge at the top. This will allow the screen to swing
down, but will not lock it into position.

2. On each side of the monitor you have 'arms' attached from the
bottom of the shelf to the bottom corners of the monitor.
These 'arms' have 'elbows' in the middle that straighten as the
screen is lowered and then 'lock' just past the 'straight' point.

3. Once the 'elbows' are locked, the screen should be rigid (with
maybe a little bounce depending on the thickness of the arms).

4. To raise the screen simply push the 'elbows' upwards and they will
collapse in on themselves.

5. You will need some sort of catch to secure the screen in a
horizontal (stowed) position.

I hope this makes sense, these things used to be used on all manner
of basic collapsable apparatus but I have no idea what they are
called or where to buy them. You will often see similar 'joints' on
collapsing pushchairs for instance. I did have a quick look through
the NEW SCREWFIX SITE (that's got to be worth a drink from Mark at
the meet) but didn't see anything similar.

If someone does understand what I am talking about and knows what
they are called or where to buy them, then please let me know as I
could do with some myself.

Regards

Graham
