Sorry dood, but that's absolute rubbish.
You CAN be subscribed to a group without knowing it until you receive
emails.
There is a little check box in the yahoo prefs for your account along the
lines of "Allow moderators to add me directly". This is checked
by default.
Anyone who hasn't gone through their prefs with a fine toothcomb may well
have missed that. So it is completely possible to be subscribed
without knowledge.
Don't apologise for them being AOL users, it's not your fault they choose
to use such a dribbly service ;-)
