You'll need a serial blue dot reader and a com port adapter to go with it.
(the blue dot readers for serial adaptors have a different connector to the
ones for parallel adaptors)
They do a range of serial adapters, I use the DS0907U-009, I believe this
is the simplest to program and they do a java onewire api that's compatible
with this device.
I think the java button is technically the most interesting, that said I've
had one for almost a year now and have yet to get round to doing anything
with it.

One for the iButton and 1-wire folks.
I'm interest in having a play with the iButton from Dallas and have
seen
you can get free samples. The question is can someone provide me with
a
list of the bits I need to get me started. I'm interested in having a
play
with the Serial Number, Memory and Thermochron iButtons but am not sure
which bits I need to link them up to a COM port. Also if anyone can
suggest some other ones to have a play with and there uses that would
be
great.
