I
have a socket WLAN card for mine. I haven't tested the absolute range
on it, but it a room where I usually get 3 bars on my laptop orinocco gold,
I usually get 2 but sometimes 3 on the socket - so it's not _quite_ as
good,
but not bad either.
The socket card is a low pwer device, and it _will_ allow the iPaq
to
go into power saving mode, whereas some cards don't & you drain the
battery a lot quicker.
There is battery drain granted, but as the card isn't in constant
use, I can't say I notice it as being that bad. Depends on how long
you're going to be using it :)
Also, the smaller form factor is a big plus - the PCMCIA adapter for
the iPaq is HUGE - no point in having a pocket sized PDA if it won't fit in
your pocket!

That would be a better solution but has anybody tried the CF
wlans for range? I was thinking of buying one of the orinioco
gold/silver because the general feeling ive got from this list is that
these seem to give the best range. plus there's no extra battery in
the CF pack so it might drain quite quickly?
Stu
Why not get a CF WLAN card? then you don't need the pcmcia
sleeve at all......
