You make some interesting points, particularly given that the

I alluded to _is_ a Meridian ;-)
Overall, however, the issue of wireless vs. wired is, IMHO, a special
case of "dedicated infrastructure" vs. "shared
infrastructure".
My view is that there will always be leading-edge applications for which
dedicated infrastructure provides the boost. Of course I can't tell you
what they'll be, but there again, in 1997 when I joined this group, I
never imagined that I'd be running KAT5, or that I'd know lots of people
with domestic wireless networks :-)
