That applies to wired too though.  At present, nothing will stop the
determined hacker, only delay them a while.....

point taken.  There was an implicit assumption there that by the time
wireless is at the 'consumer level', it will be robust enough to travel
around the home.  I'm only talking about wired replacing wireless - you
wouldn't run a cat 5 cable down the end of your garden for instance, so
whether wireless reaches that far or not is irrelevant.

Why not?  If it's a matter if immature technology, it's only a matter of
time & no much of that by the way things are going.
Even ppl like Linn are doing music servers dishing out digital audio
streams.  why not dish them out over a WLAN?
