As Ian just said, TA stands for Terminal Adapter, it is a bit like a
modem in an analogue environment.

What do you mean by 'I have never connected to it before'? If you
mean you have set up comfort web interface before but never in
conjunction with home highway, then I don't think there should be a
problem (unless the customer has not even got their own internet
acess working). If however you are saying that you have never
installed CWI before then I think the task is more complicated. There
are several potential pitfalls related to setting up the web server
and securing the PC/LAN that are not specific to HH at all. Please
don't take this the wrong way, but I would be a little concerned if
you are going to a customers site to set up CWI for the first time,
in my opinion it requires experience and knowledge outside of normal
comfort installations.
