RE: Cat5e cable in walls

Title: Cat5e cable in walls
Think of the most you could possibly conceive using.
Double that number
Then add a couple more for good measure :-)

I flooded my house with CAT5, but still have problems in some areas.
Eg: Office - 8 ports - not enough.

Lounge: 8 ports.  More than enough, (2 pair in each corner of the room) but not in the right place - I didn't know about KAT5 at the time, so there are only 2 ports near the TV.
This is not enough as I want to run RGB KAT5 to DVD player/SKY @ node 0, DECT phone cradle (sits on top of TV), possibly Xbox in the future connecting to network & running audio back to amps @ node 0.

Similarly, in master bedroom, 4 ports - 2 pair either side of bed headboard.  This is no good when I want to run KAT5 to the TV on the wall at the end of the bed :-(

So put in more than you think you will ever need, and put them in where you think you won't use them - because you will :-)

Hi all

Im having some sparkies in today to wire up some extra sockets in the lounge.

While theyre there they are putting in two runs of cat5e which will go into the loft for an eventual node 0.

Has anyone got any advice on the placement of them or the number to fit.  Ive seen people mention that they ran four cables and had already run out but at the moment ill only be using it to network the pc downstairs to the server upstairs which is running homeseer.  I cant really think of any other uses when Im using dect phones (so no cable for phone) and x-10 for the lights.

Thanks in advance.
