Subject: [ukha_d] Why Tivo?

Hi all,

I need some Tivo info, that I'm sure at least 10 people here would know, so here goes with the questions.

1. Can tivo recording be controlled over a network?

You can fit an ethernet card by using an adaptor, then run TiVoWeb to setup recording from a PC

2. Can tivo recording be controlled over the Internet?

Not seen anyone say that they have done this, but assume TiVoWeb will

3. Can you copy recorded programs from a tivo to a pc over a network, and use them (IE edit and playback, assuming that its some kind of mpeg2?)

Yes and no  -  Yes in theory (proved by the author of SAMBA) but it can be used to break copyright so he won't release the details

4. How difficult are the above to achieve?

1, 2 - just buy the bits
