I got drivers for W2K direct from compaq, just emailed their customer
support, however after switching to XP I haven't got round to
reinstalling the scanners. On W2K I didn't have to enter any name,
just place my finger on the scanner and it did the rest, from memory
the name used to pop up when it didn't recognise the fingerprint
straight away. I had this a couple of times, once when my finger had
paint (dry) on it and another time when my finger had been 'roughed
up' a bit during some building work. To get round it I made sure that
I had recorded more than one finger against my userid so that if the
forefinger failed I could try thumb or another finger.
