Burning an ISO image with Nero:
1. Start Nero
2. Choose the menu command "File"->"Burn CD image"
3. Choose as file type: all files (*.*)
4. Select the ISO image file
5. Now you will see a dialog, asking you, if you want to supply
detailled
image parameters. This is necessary, since Nero needs to know
exactly, what format the image file has to be able to burn it correctly.
6. Enter the following parameters:
- Mode 1 (assuming, that you created a mode 1 image)
- 2048 bytes per sector (corresponds to a mode 1 sector)
- 0 bytes header and trailer (assuming, the image contains
only "pure" ISO data and no other special header
or trailer)
- no swapping or scrambling (assuming, that the file contains
bytes in the correct order to be written without word swapping)
7. Click on "burn" and (for safety considerations) use an empty
cdr.

I don't have nero on this machine but as far as I remember there was
something like a burn image option on the file menu, this then prompts
for the name of the image file, it will initially be looking for a
different file extension to iso, just change to all files, then you get
another dialog with some meaningless (to me) options, just accept the
defaults here.
One other gotcha, if your spare machine is too old to boot from cd
you'll need to make a boot floppy, instructions for this are on
smoothwall's web site.

Okay assuming this ever gets to the list.....am I being stupid or what?
I have got the file downloaded but just burning it to a CD will not
boot, I
am trying to use Nero but do I need something else?
You say it is an image(?) then should Nero recognise it as such, I tried
to
point Nero to it but it did not work.
Sorry to be a pain but I do not understand what the .iso is?
Thanks,
B.
