RE: Home Network for the boss!
I would agree with Justin, this unit has had good reviews
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2001/q4/draytek_vigor2200usb.as
p
and it has simple web interfaces for all the various configurations.
and it makes it simple to put ADSL onto a Lan, as it doesn't rely on a PC
being live to do the sharing.

I would probably go for the 'KISS' method using:
http://www.seg.co.uk/draytek/products/vigor2200usb.html
IMO, setting up a PC (M$ or Linux) as a router/firewall for someone else
sounds like a pain in the but waiting to happen! (Unless they are pretty
clued up, in which case they would do it themselves in the first place).
Too
many things to go wrong I reckon.
Just my 2p worth.
Justin.

The MD has decided to go for ADSL, and also wants to connect 3 PCs in 3
different rooms.
I know how to do the hardwired vs. wireless bit.
The question is: What should I say in terms of :
--- single-user ADSL connection, Linux PC running smoothwall with ADSL
"card", separate 4(8)-port switch
--- single-user ADSL connection, some dedicated ADSL device to
connection share/be a firewall
--- single-user ADSL connection, one of the (Win) PCs running ICS with
some form of firewall
???
Recommendations/suggestions?
