not sure why this is happening unless it is some odd manifestation of local control.

Just wondering...If the timer is just doing basic timed on and off why not wire the AM in series with it, switch the timer on permanently and use X10 for your timed and ad-hoc  switching.

It will give you a more flexible schedule and will avoid any clashes.

As an intermediate step, whilst my Comfort cannot be easily programmed (pc in other room), I have dismantled an X10 Appliance Module and wired it in paralle to my electronic timer.

                   ________AM 10 _________
                 /                                         \
               /                                             \
Supply -<                                                  >----Central heating system
\                                                /
              \_________Randall timer______/

Theoretically this allow the timer to control 2 set events during the day/night, and the X10 via remote can be used at any other time.
Unfortunately, sometimes, when heating is on (timer), it appears to switch the AM10  to ON, meaning the heating stays on.....
Also if the timer is on and the x10 is switched off...(with or without pressing on), the x10 module will click 4 or 5 times and remain ON, requiring the timer to be switched OFF before the x10 unit will respond properly to the OFF command.

I will remove the timer soon, but anyone any ideas to prevent this switching, or even any thoughts why this is so......

thanks
Campbell
