Not on XP, but on Win98 I did just that.  I noticed no speed up at all.  I
suppose it must depend on what you do with your machine.  I don't do
graphics work or anything like that.  I only used it for multimedia (video
and audio) playing and general web work.

What do you use your machine for?  Do you notice it slowing down from
excessive disk-swapping?
