Seem to have some progress on getting the end-to-end client to work after
getting closer to correct setup for my network in general
- outlook is not authenticating SMTP
- told my WAN gateway the address of my ISPs DNS servers
- now the DHCP request from the mail machine is getting a DNS address
- setup the Relay/Allow conection rules in the SMTP Server to allow my
local
machines (strict is off)
- end-to-end client is now resolving the MX using the ISPs DNS
- end-to-end is connecting to the end machine
- mail is getting through
Not sure which bit fixed it - but it was certainly not talking to the DNS
at
the start

Ah! I never did get the end-to-end client to work, so I use the relay
client instead - out of interest what have you got in the .ini file for the
end-to-end client?

On the faq on the website there is just this question - there is a w2k util
that let's you run Merc as a service - can't remember what it's called.
