Have broken both SMTP clients now grrrrrrrrrrr but can't find out what was
making them work in the first place - suspect my ISP is not authenticating
the SMTP connection.

Ah! I never did get the end-to-end client to work, so I use the relay
client instead - out of interest what have you got in the .ini file for the
end-to-end client?

On the faq on the website there is just this question - there is a w2k util
that let's you run Merc as a service - can't remember what it's called.
