What's the response time like? I thought that underfloor heating was
slow to heatup/cooldown so by the time an occupancy detector flagged
that you were in a room and increased the heat you had probably left
the room already because it wasn't warm enough.

status (HV can report status - temperature of each room, occupancy of
each room, wheter the rads/UFH is on or not etc.... it can basically
do whatever you want)  and accept instructions from a PC or other
system, the idea being that it would operate as a stand alone system
with overrides from the home automation/security systems.
(My 'philiosophy' for HA has been standalone yet integrated systems -
ie. having HV do the automation work, Comfort doing the security and
Futronix handling most of the lighting - all separate systems but can
talk to each other.  For heating, however, I thought that HV would be
ideal mainly from the fact that the support for DS18S20s is so good,
and that it's fairly easy to program a 'clever' heating schedule)
This would allow (for example) the heating to be set back when the
house alarm is in away mode and would give more flexibility than one
of the 'standard' systems with regards shedules and remote
operation.  (Comfort tells HV that we are out and HV adjusts the
schedule to suit)

work without interfacing to a HA system as I see it....first if the
property is sold just take out the interfaces and you have a bog
standard UFH system (if I sold our house then the heating system
could be easily downgraded to 'normal' control, but I think having an
intelligent heating system installed would be a good selling
point!) ..second if the HA system is down the UFH will still operate
correctly although with limited functionality (Firstly, HV is
extremely reliable, and secondly I can override all valves manually
and still have a central heating system that is better than most
standard systems)

sophisticated stuff - bit expensive though.

screeded floors and same pipe to feed conventional radiators - all
via manifolds with each zone controlled via actuator valves.  Each
room with DS18S20 sensors and occupancy PIRs linked to HV.  Boiler
and distribution valves controlled via HV outputs and actuator valves
controlled via X10 relay board.
