Bingo. :)

And the switching can be done by relays under PC control...

as an aside, assuming a stereo amp and source, with two "sets" of four
speakers, you could easily have a quiet side and normal side...

so, during the night, you could drop certain zones to quiet settings.. I am
assuming it would always be the same zones, (bedrooms etc) so you could work
it out quote nicely...

And "8ohm" is either a speaker, or a "power resistor" depending on whether
the zone is switched in or out ??

As I understand it...

AMP+---(8OHM)---AMP-

is *EXACTLY* equivelant in impedance terms to:

AMP+-(--(8OHM)---(8OHM)--)-AMP-
     (--(8OHM)---(8OHM)--)

(as the serial speakers have an effective impedace of 16 ohms, but adding
these pairs in parallel brings the effective impedance back down to 8 ohms)

the difference, of course, is that you have higher power losses through the
four speaker matrix, but this is TTS: mega volume is not the order of the
day anyway..

Hi Ian
I Agree simple is best but how do you connect 8 speakers to 1 source
without loading the amp?
