RE: InterBuild UK @ NEC Last day tomorrow

I’m on slightly tighter timescales John, and given the cost of the entire building, saving a few hundred quid on the entire lighting system isn’t really going to be an issue. I’m actually going to get the guys from Polaron to do the lighting design for me. Although the individual dimmers from Clipsal are cheaper, I think due to the fact that each circuit is only 1A means that you’ll need more of them in even a moderately ambitious scheme. The thing that I really like about Polaron though is the switching panels – up to 10 buttons in a single gang wallbox – IMO they look more upmarket than the Clipsal stuff too.

Don’t forget that new building regs mean that a third of your lamps now have to have fittings which can *only* take energy saving bulbs L

Tim,

Had a good look at the Polaron system. Looked very good and I did like the
QED System line integration. I also looked at C-BUS from Clipsal.
Apparently they are bringing out an audio and security integrated system
very soon. I also looked at an Australian product >from (www.dimtek.co.uk). Haven't had a look at the web site yet. Seemed okay,
with similar basic lighting controls, but no idea of cost. Also looked at
SmartControls which also seemed okay.

Next task is to get a basic lighting design done. Send it off and get
comparative quotes for each system. I'll be looking to do some of the
design and on-site commissioning myself (time permitting).

All in all I had a good day, howeve it looks like it might have been an
expenses visit in the long run!
