Mark,

Although the speakers are wired in a matrix, the wiring is all at node zero,
so you could set up a set of relays to swap in and out speakers/resistors.

I'm sure this is possible!

the only drawback I see is that you can't have zoned *volume* control, all
zones would be at the same volume..

Well,

If

- the speakers are all the same
- this is a powerful amp
- it's signal mono
- it's only for low-volume

I'd wire them as 4 speakers per channel, with a line-level stereo-mono lead
to give the same feed.

They'd be two parallel chains, each of two speakers IN SERIES.

The downside is, of course, that you have to run ALL speakers - you can't
zone it.

        I Agree simple is best but how do you connect 8 speakers to 1 source
without loading the amp?
