I had fun and games a year or so ago with my Sony box.  I wanted the optical
out enabled to feed to my main amp.
I ring the support number in the brochure.  It is no longer in operation.
I ring Sky. "It's a hardware issue sir.  We have nothing to do with that as
it is a physlical device issue and we only deal with the software."
(something like that anyway.
They give me a new sony tech support line.  I ring them and they say
"Nothing to do with us sir - it's up to Sky to send a signal to your box to
enable it".
The person I was speaking to assured me they even knew some ppl personally
who'd had this done.
I ring sky again - see their previous response :(
I ring sony again - see _their_ previous resonse :(

I give up and have the box replaced with a panny as my installer said ALL
their sony boxes (except mine) had been returned with faults.
So, 'surprisingly' mine developed the problems they described & I got a free
swap.
Still no optical out though :-(((

Bloody sky.
Bloody sony.
On a par with BT & Telewest for being unhelpful wastes of space :-<<<
