Myself and a mate are thinking of the ultimate trial ;)

We live about 12 miles apart., but reckon we have line of sight.

It takes a lot more effort to *confirm* LOS than it does to 8think* you have
it..

We are waiting on one of our mutual friends getting round to loaning us his
telescope (or reaching boredom point and buying one!!) to get an exact
bearing.

Then it's time to see how hard you can push a yagi.

As an aside, are there "back" lobes of emission from a yagi antenna, or is
the footprint largely in front of the device?

I don't mind in the *slightest* cooking the local screaming kids, but I
don't fancy a nasty headache myself ;)

Ian.

consume.net consume.net consume.net! :)

You could get away with 2 Linux boxes + cards with yagi antennas all
pretty cheaply. (Maybe what you'd save using cards instead of APs?)

Line of sight? point and ping? :P hehehe.
