Re: Re: [OTish] Free Electronics books

Good to hear your having fun .Keep practicing your soldering . You will find
electronics can be as addictive as home automation . Its good if  you can
build it cheaper than you can buy ,but its the satisfaction of doing it
yourself that makes it worthwhile. Like any hobby it WILL cost you money . I
spent $150.00 on components and boxes last Saturday and thats with a trade
discount.
BTW i got some 3mm infrared leds didnt realize they made them in 3mm.

Missed  the delivery man today who has my high speed optos. Have saved some
ir codes on hv and sitting here testing  them using the zone controller and
zone splitter .This was actually one of my to do projects ,so you have
helped me bring it forward .
Hopefully tomorrow nite(melbourne time) i will be able to report some good
news. I have also taken some photos will post them soon.
I think Ian will be too busy for pcb production at the moment with the
new baby and im sure he will want to get back on to the ir network project.

Also if you have a few spare jacks ,make up some with a  visible led and
resistor inside ,ideal for testing . Actually your idea of led indication
for the zone controller ,very good , didnt think of doing that. Still cant
believe it only draws 5mA when transmitting. Xantech expensive stuff ?

BTW had a look at your site didnt see anything on
Home Vision?
