I saw that this weekend, it got me wondering..

Is the encryption schema that was used by ITV Digital fundamentally broken<= BR> in hardware,
or is it something that could be resolved by a (forced) firmware upgrade?
I expect the various leccy stores to start getting shot of DTT boxes to try=
to recoup some cash,
and whilst there's not much reason to get them just now (it's only the free=
to air channels?)

I imagine that the next company attempting DTT will look at the economics o= f
an entirely new
platform roll-out against using the installed base of kit..

Thing is, I saw one ITV Digital guesstimate that only ONE in FOUR of boxes<= BR> was using a
legitimate subscription card, and with that sort of revenue leakage a
complete new hardware
rollout might be the best financial move after all...

I reckon if it got down to the =A350 mark, I would blag one just to pull it= to
bits,
but if the next operator re-used the boxes, it could make a nice little
saving :D

Ian.
