Mmmm.. I was just getting to grips with the whole thing!

First up if you are like me with your level of electronics I can
heartily reccommend Circuit maker
(http://www.microcode.com/downloads/student.htm) whcih allows you to
input information on the components' datasheet.. any calculations are
then done on 'real' information... (No afiliation.. blah blah...)

you'll see that I've got something working!!! On board 1 you can see
the switch that I use to simulate an ir trigger... on board 2 are 14
LED's one push lights all the LEDs..

I appreciate that the circuit can be simplified very much using Ian's
B+D's circuits, but seeing as I've just brought a bag of transistors
I'm happy to use those rather than buy yet more...

The initial board design was the top half of:

i.e. from the red +5v connection line upwards..

Which I assume works...(since Mr Doxey was the one who mentioned it)

Frank suggested earlier in the thread that it would probably be
better to split the design.. Ie use the HVIR.jpg board to connect to
individual zone 'boxes'.

This does 2 things.

1) simplify the connetion to Homevision, since the actual IR emitters
would be 3.5mm jack sockets and not actual emitters..

2)allows building and testing in stages...ie allows zones to be built
and added as and when needed.. rather than building an 8 zone 8
emitter all at once....

I like the initial design from Ian B, primarily because that's where
we started from, and secondly because I have the parts... Some people
(Ian B himself!! ) may say that it's not a good design (I wouldn;t
know) and that there are much better ways to do it.

What I do know is before this started I didn't even know what a
transistor was...I've learnt (lol) a lot from this which I think is
useful..

If everyone wants the new design then fine, but I'd really like to
look at this one more closely, especially as it seems to work..

and a  question...

If one circuit draws 1mA and you replicate that circuit, will the 2
circuits together draw 2ma or is there a special calculation to work
that out?
