Could be a coincidental hardware failure. I'd just take it back to the
shop :) How are you going to handle the fact that XP needs activation
(or do you have the Action Pack?)

The only problem that I can see is that if you do it again, and the
problem is software related and irresolvable, they aren't going to be
too happy with you.

Bought a new lappy yesterday (Toshiba Satellite 3000-400).

Wanted to change the pre-installed WinME to XP last night but in the
middle
of the install the LCDs backlit went off.

I can't get it back on despite re-installing ME from the recovery disk.
It
does come on for about a second a bootup but goes off straight away.
Anyone
got any ideas?!?!
