[OT] Laptop - HELP!

Bought a new lappy yesterday (Toshiba Satellite 3000-400).

Wanted to change the pre-installed WinME to XP last night but in the
middle
of the install the LCDs backlit went off.

I can't get it back on despite re-installing ME from the recovery
disk.  It
does come on for about a second a bootup but goes off straight away. 
Anyone
got any ideas?!?!
