I'm still interested in this too... are you using some kind of binary
encoding using the 3 connections to represent the zones or have I got
it all wrong? I was thinking along the lines of:

x=low o =high

Example 1       

Pins
123
x00 = zone 1

Example 2     

Pins
123
xox = zone 4
