RE: RE: (ukha_d) Interactive Demo?

You could use the Viom unit that Paul Gordon has used in his bathroom for
this....... This is a serial port device that you can connect to switches,
you then need to use something like Girder to do the app launching..

Is Paul about???? - he'll hopefully be able to provide more info!!

Not touchscreen.  Could go for mouse, but I was thinking of buttons, or
contacts
hidden behind a logo - i.e. someone presses the 'Compaq' logo (which will
probably be a bit of perspex screwed to the wall, with a push button
underneath
it), and the screen launches something about Compaq.  The screens will
probably
be suspended from the ceiling.

All

We're looking to build an interactive display (plasma) in the office, along
the
lines of 'press this button to see xyz'.  The likelihood is that there'll
be
maybe a dozen buttons, which once pressed, would launch an avi file, or
maybe
jump to an area on the intranet.

So,  any ideas on how best to do it?  The result needs to look
professional,
and
the cost needs to be low!  The controlling PC hasn't been spec'd yet, so
that's
totally flexible.

Any idea would be more than welcome, as this is a new area for me

Thanks, Pete
