Title: Message
I think it should be left up to the individual doing the bulk buy as to what they will get from it. It is probably right that if they are making a profit, they should declare it, but I see no problem in 'advertising' bulk buys here (as long as it is an individual and not a company trying to sell to us). The only change I would like to see is some web site, forum, group or whatever the coordinates ALL bulk buys so that we don't get loads of bulk buy messages here. With my own bulk buy I made no profit and lost no money (assuming my time was free) and of course I did get to stand on the roof of the WTC and no profit in the world can re-create that!

I think it is only fair on the person organizing the bulk buy to add a safety margin so that they are compensated for there time, effort and risk. That said it is easier said than done.  No one can say that Gareth was fairly compensated for all of the hassle he has had / is having with the Fujitsus.

I think you can write all of the guidelines you like - and Mark H wrote a really good one for Gareth, but at the end of the day it is based on trust.  In every case of the bulk buys that I have seen the list price, websites and supplies have all been clearly distributed to the group and I am sure there are as many people who join in the bulk buy as who go direct to the website to purchase.

My personal motive for organizing the multitainer bulk buy wasn't for personal gain (actually it cost me money) but to give something back to a community that I have received a huge amount of advice, knowledge and help >from

I have been contacted by a member of the list asking me for guidelines on
Bulk Buys.   He is concerned that a private individual making a profit on a
bulk buy is really no different to any other dealer advertising on this
list.

My answer is that no one is forcing anyone to take part in any bulk buy and
it would be very hard to "enforce" any guidelines.

What do others think?

Thanks

M.
