Re: Rackmount cases

James,

I found that case.  I was looking for an empty case like the Maplins ones.
I'm not wanting the 1U for a server, so height isn't a problem - I need them to house some automation equipment and SMPSs (only 38mm high) etc...

I suppose I might end up making them myself.

BTW I'm currently designing a 3U housing for HomeVision with LED indication of 64 inputs and 24 outputs with a 5.6" TFT monitor.  It's looking good on paper! :o)

Thanks

Simon

Subject: Re: [ukha_d] Rackmount cases

Does anyone know of a supplier of 19" rackmount cases.  I'm wanting something similar to the Maplins cases (ie. style and cost) but I need them to be deeper.  I'm looking for 1U and 2U sizes approx 500mm deep.  I've been surfing but I'm struggling to find a supplier :o(

As Chris points out, Novatech do a 1U one complete with 200W ATX PSU.  It's not cheap at £99 +VAT, but delivery is free (for mainland at least).  I've just got one - and it's deep - too deep - necessitating me taking a jigsaw to node zero to accommodate it :O

OK, so this is a bit more expensive than a £35 Craplins one - but you try and find a 1U PSU.....  They're not cheap.  Q suggested taking a Dremel to a normal one - but I've just had a nose at a 230W one and the heatsink's too high.  There may be other normal ones that are slightly shorter - but until you open one up you don't really know.

Usual disclaimer applies - if in doubt, don't open PSUs up and mess with them!
