Peter, not sure where you are going in the US, but you should try to check out a local Fry's store www.frys.com. I was in one of their stores last year, and they had a whole X10 aisle. Its an amazing store, about the size of the larger DIY warehouse stores, full of gadgets/computers/components/toys/etc. I think you can bring back something like $180 of goods, without declaring to customs.
